Description:

Polyethylene -[-CH2-CH2-]n- is obtained in result of ethylene polymerization. There are three main polymerization methods: low, medium and high pressure. Low-pressure PE of high density is used as constructional material.

General properties of polyethylene:

high scratch resistance,
high chemical resistance (solutions of alkalis, acids and salts),
high impact strength
very law friction coefficient
approved for contact with food
low steam permeability.

Exemplary applications of polyethylene:

food storage containers,
casting line elements,
chain guides,
mattings.

Polyethylene types:

high molecular weight polyethylene
ultra high molecular weight polyethylene,
wear resistant,
very good sliding properties,
very good insulation properties,
temperature range from -269°C to + 80°C
